Fed wins!

Tennisfanwise, I'm a happy rabbit pellet today.

Zimbabwean Cara Black won two US Open titles - Women's and Mixed Doubles. Ironically, she beat her women's doubles partner Liezel Huber in the mixed final. (Pic from New Zimbabwe article.)

Andy Murray got to a Grand Slam Final. Go Scotland! Dunblane lives again!



The US Open site has a nice list of Top 50 Unexpected Moments at the 2008 tournament.

Expected: Jelena Jankovic tests patience of her opponents
Unexpected: Jankovic tests patience of her fans with interminable matches

Expected: A mom goes deep into the women's draw
Unexpected: That mom is not Lindsay Davenport but Sybille Bammer of Austria. (Yes, Bammer is the mum whose daughter "is always telling other people to be quiet because Mummy is concentrating.")

Expected:Multi-lingual man from tiny European nation storms through draw
Unexpected: Man is from Luxembourg.
